Radio Museum

This tour is self guided and is included in your visit to Cork City Gaol.

On the first floor see the Birth of Radio with Marconi voice over telling about the pioneers of radio. The early forms of communication (ie Pony Express) and before leaving this area try the oscillope and Morse key.

On the second floor see the microphone used by President John F Kennedy used on his visit to Ireland 1963.

Viewing area where you will see some of the collection.

Visit the 1927 cork radio broadcasting studio where you will be told about the opening of the studio in 1927 and be given different details of the various artefacts. Also take a look at the photographs of many of those involved in cork radio broadcasting.

Enter the control area and tune into the world. Take a look at the map and then lift a headset and tune in.

Equipment housed in glass cases & the juke box section where you can see radios from the various decades & hear sound bites from the various periods.
