Cork City Gaol
Unlock history and bring your pupils on a journey through time to discover the fascinating history of Cork City Gaol, its inmates and staff. Pupils will learn the stories of real adults and children who were imprisoned here. The stories are brought to life using realistic models, sound effects and interactive content.
Cork City Gaol Visit provide valuable sources for projects with an emphasis on history & culture, 19th Century crime, punishment & social history and architecture. Currently, we have Teacher Project Sheets for both primary and second-level students. The Guided Tour takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and after your tour, you can explore the Governor’s Garden and Gaol Walkway at your own pace.
School Tour – Triple Package
Cork City Gaol has once again teamed up with The Planet and Old Cork Waterworks Experience to create the ideal school tour package. Educational, engaging and fun, the package consists of bowling or play in the Planet, a tour in the Old Cork Waterworks and a guided tour here in Cork City Gaol.
The Planet: Where fun lives. Soft Play is the indoor dream for kids up to 10 years of age, with slides, rope bridges, pulleys and a huge ball pool. Ten Pin Bowling is suitable for kids aged 6 and over and each lane has automatic side-bumper rails and light bowling balls.
Old Cork Waterworks Experience: Learn the history of the Old Cork Waterworks and the important role that water played in the development of Cork City, participate in a group experiment and explore the renovated Victorian buildings.

Primary School Tour Project
Cork City Gaol is a very popular choice for Primary School tours. We have created a pre-visit information pack for you to help prepare your pupils for their Gaol tour. Included is some background information that will help your pupils understand the stories.
Our after-tour quiz is an ideal way to go through the information with your students after your tour.

Secondary School Tour Project
Cork City Gaol is an excellent choice for Secondary School tours throughout the year. We have created a document pack to help you put together a lesson plan for your students before or after you visit the Gaol. We also provide you with suggested topics to discuss with your students before your visit to the Gaol.
The after-tour quiz pack is also an ideal way to revise the information learned on the tour with your students.

Mardyke Tour Package
