DEFINITIONS

‘We’, ‘our’, ‘us’ in this document refer to Cork Tourism & Leisure Ltd t/a Cork City Gaol.

Self-guided tours: a tour in which the visitor is not escorted by a tour guide. We have 2 options available at Cork City Gaol; the first option is a guide book which is included in the regular rate. The second is an audio guide which is available as an add on to the regular ticket.

Guided tours: Visitors are shown around the building by a tour guide. Guided Tours are only available in English. Public Tours are available at 2pm daily from September to June and hourly in July and August. Pre-booked guided tours are available every day but must be pre-booked at least 1 week in advance. If a group wishes to visit with their own translator, this can be accommodated.

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The following terms set out the basis for purchasing tickets for your visit to Cork City Gaol. Please read these terms carefully, as you agree to be bound by them by doing the following actions:

  • Purchasing a ticket online, at our ticket desk or through an authorised third-party booking site or agent.
  • Purchasing a voucher online or at our ticket desk.
  • Making a group booking via email or over the phone

By purchasing tickets for Cork City Gaol, you acknowledge that you have read, and agree to be bound by, these terms and conditions, including how we use the information you provide us with.

All persons wishing to purchase tickets to visit Cork City Gaol do so subject to the following terms and conditions:

 

IN PERSON TICKET PURCHASES:

Tickets for both self-guided and guided tours are available for purchase on arrival in our admissions office.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you request the correct ticket type (please see below) before purchasing your tickets.

There is no guarantee of availability for guided tours, if purchased on arrival. Pre-booking through our website is recommended.

 

ONLINE BOOKING:

Please double-check the accuracy of the information on your booking, as discrepancies cannot always be corrected.

Admission is only valid for tickets purchased directly from us and our authorised third-party booking sites / agents.

Your personal information is exclusively used in compliance with our Privacy Policy, which can be found here. Please read these carefully before continuing with your booking.

Cork City Gaol is not responsible for any extra charges you may incur when booking through a third-party booking site or agent.

Self-guided tickets can be purchased through our website: https://corkcitygaol.com/ or through an authorised third-party booking site / agent.

When you book online you will receive an email with your booking details, including the date of your booking.

Pre-booked self-guided tickets are valid only for the date stated on the booking confirmation. Please note that self-guided tickets will state “10.00am” as the time, however, you can visit at any time during our regular opening hours.

Guided tour tickets can be purchased through our website: https://corkcitygaol.com/.

When you book online you will receive an email with your booking details, including the date and time of your guided tour booking.

Pre-booked guided tour tickets are valid only for the date and time on the booking confirmation.

A 5-minute grace period will be applied for guided tour bookings. If you arrive more than 5 minutes after the start time, you will not be allowed to join the tour. Every effort will be made to accommodate you on the next available guided tour, alternatively we will provide you with an audio guide.

 

PRICING OF TICKETS

All prices are quoted in Euro. Whilst Cork City Gaol reserves the right to increase or decrease our prices at any time before you book, once your booking is confirmed the price of your booking, as stated in your confirmation email, will not be changed.

Children under 3 are free of charge, Child ticket is valid for those aged 3 to 17 years.

Adult ticket is for those aged 18 to 64 years

Senior ticket is for 65 years & up.

Family Ticket consists of 2 adults and between 2 and 4 children.

Students must provide a valid student id on arrival (international ids accepted).

AMENDMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

For self-guided bookings, amendments can be made up to and including the day of your visit.

For guided tour bookings, amendments can be made up to 1 hour before the time stated on your ticket. It is not always possible to accommodate late arrivals on subsequent tours.

If you wish to cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as possible at +353 21 4305022 or [email protected]. Cancellations made up to 24 hours before your booking will be refunded in full. We are under no obligation to provide refunds if you cancel less than 24 hours before your booking; nonetheless, any such return is solely at our discretion.

Cork City Gaol reserves the right to cancel a ticket and will make every effort to contact you as soon as possible. If we have to cancel your ticket for any reason, a full refund or alternative date will be offered.

 

GENERAL TERMS

A single ticket permits 1 individual to attend on a single occasion. To re-enter the grounds after you have exited you must purchase a new ticket.

All persons entering must hold a valid ticket.

It is the sole responsibility of the bearer of the ticket to check the opening times of Cork City Gaol.

Cork City Gaol aims to ensure that all exhibits are open for visitors during our regular opening hours. However, Cork City Gaol reserves the right to amend our opening hours as may be required, whether for safety reasons, or otherwise, with or without prior notice. Any changes to our openings hours will be communicated to pre-bookings via email and through our website and social media. In the event of any such closure Cork City Gaol will refund or reschedule any pre-bookings.

Under Irish Law, smoking is strictly prohibited in all buildings under the control of Cork City Gaol.

Any behaviour likely to annoy other visitors is not permitted. If, in Cork City Gaols opinion, a visitor is behaving in such a way as to cause danger or annoyance to others or damage to property, they may be removed from the grounds without refund. In addition, they must meet any expenses incurred due to such behaviour.

Reasons for removal from the grounds would include (but are not limited to):

  • Behaving in a manner that is likely to affect the safety of staff and visitors
  • Behaving in a manner that is likely to affect enjoyment of other visitors
  • Using threatening, abusive or insulting language or behaviour towards members of our staff or other visitors

Other than liability for death or personal injury resulting from Cork City Gaols negligence, Cork City Gaol, its employees or agents shall not be liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, howsoever arising.

Photographs or videos taken using a handheld camera or smartphone are permitted in all areas of the Gaol. No filming or photographing of staff without their consent.

No drones allowed over the site without express written consent from Cork City Gaol.

From time to time, Cork City Gaol or other authorised third parties may carry out photography or other recording at the venue and any images or recordings may feature visitors. Visitors consent to the use of such images in connection with advertising, promotions or monitoring and acknowledge that the copyright in such images rests with Cork City Gaol and/or any authorised third party.

No pets are permitted at Cork City Gaol except for registered assistance animals. (proof required)

No heelies, scooters, bicycles or similar are permitted on the grounds of Cork City Gaol.

Visitors must follow staff directions in the case of an emergency evacuation.

Consumption of alcohol or illegal substances is not permitted on the grounds of Cork City Gaol during our regular opening hours.

Any persons under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

We reserve the right to update and revise these terms at any time by posting new terms on the website. The terms in effect at the time you purchase your tickets will apply to you.
